Community Carrot AGM February 2020
On the 22nd February 2020 the Community Carrot Ltd, the community benefit society that bought out and trades as the Crunchy Carrot, held its first Annual General Meeting for society members (shareholders).
As has been the case at every stage of the buy-out process, the meeting was wonderfully supported by the CC community with around 60 members present.
Board and staff members presented to the meeting on a range of areas outlined in the Agenda below.

7. Q&A session
1) Comment from a member resident to Dunbar saying THANK YOU for all the work: first visited the store in 1959 - greengrocer then, and still today
2) Question from a member relatively new to Dunbar: what have we bought building-wise? Did we buy the flat? Kirsten answered, clarified that we bought the shop premises, the business, assets, stock and goodwill.
3) Specific on finances: 5-month trading year to March 31st 2020? ‘Members do not require an audit but do require a Professional Accountant to report on accounts (rule 6.7)’ – over £400,000 turnover will require us to have an accountant’s reports. Clarified by member Gareth, and Kirsten helped.
4) Member (David): Thank you for presentation - I know nothing about retail - what is our business decision on pricing? What are the factors? Noted price comparison with supermarkets: some stock is cheaper in supermarkets, some more expensive. Manager Jo Gibson answered: we need a consistent approach and we are looking at pricing systems. Feedback welcomed.
8. Tea and cake
Thank you to everyone who attended and made it a genuinely enjoyable event. Here’s to a successful year for the Crunchy Carrot and its community before the next AGM!
