If you’re eligible for a Best Start Foods card, we can take the work out of the weekly shop by putting a box together for you.

We stock the following items that can be paid for with a Best Start Foods card:

  • plain cow's milk

  • fresh, frozen & tinned fruit & vegetables

  • fresh & dried pulses like lentils, beans, peas and barley

  • fresh eggs

Many of these will come from our lovely local suppliers!

We can make up a box for you weekly, fortnightly or monthly

You can have a box made up to the value of:

If you receive £34 / month:

  • Weekly: £8.50

  • Fortnightly: £17

  • Monthly £34

If you receive £17 / month:

  • Weekly: £4.25

  • Fortnightly: £8.50

  • Monthly: £17

How to order your box

Call 01368 860 000 or email shop@communitycarrot.scot to order your box and then come to the shop to collect and pay for it with your Best Start Foods card.

We can either make up a box for you, or you can order a custom box containing whichever eligible items you would like up to your BSF value. You can also add anything else you want and just pay for those items separately.

ABOUT BEST START FOODS

Best Start Foods is a prepaid card that can be used to buy healthy foods for children under 3. You can apply for a card if you’re eligible for certain payments or benefits - find out if you can get a BSF card here.

The payments of Best Start Foods are:

  • £17 every 4 weeks during pregnancy

  • £34 every 4 weeks from a child being born up until they're 1 year old

  • £17 every 4 weeks between the ages of 1 and 3
